Kai Baumann


Born In Berlin in 1961 where he finished Conducting Class in Hochschule der Künste. Apart from that, as a pianist he attended class of a Song Interpretation, leaded by such renowns as prof. D. Fischer-Dieskau and prof. A. Reiman.

In 1986 he started to work as a coach, firstly in Trier, and thereafter in Freiburgu/Breisgau. In 1989 he took the post of the first conductor in Landestheater Detmold, and in season 1992/1993 he was there the music director. From the beginning of a season 1996/1997 Kai Bumann apart from his work in Detmold was engaged as the first host conductor in Staatstheater in Wiesbaden.

In 1994 he took part in International Conductor Competition in Genova (CIEM) and was awarded with a Second Prize.

Shortly afterwards he started to work actively e.g. in Poland. He conducted concerts in Philharmonics in Bydgoszcz, ŁódĽ, Wrocław, Kraków, was a first host conductor of Polish Baltic Philharmonic. In 1998 he made his debut in Berliner Deutsche Oper. In season 1997/98 he was the Artistic Director of Cracow Opera. Since 1997 he has worked as Artistic Director of Schweizer Jugend Sinfonie Orchester and Camerata Schweiz located in Zürich.

In November 2003 he prepared and conducted G. Verdi´s Falstaff in Warsaw Chamber Opera. Before the premiere of this outstanding masterpiece he has been nominated for the Music Director of this institution and fulfills this function up till now.
