Mariusz Patyra


He was born in Orzysz. He begun his music education at the age of six under professor A. Hoffmann in Olsztyn. Then he studied under professor J. Kucharski in Warsaw, and professor K. Węgrzyn in Hanover. In October 2000 he received the scholarship of Walter-Staueffer Academy in Cremona and started there complementary studies under Maestro Salvatore Accardo.

Mariusz Patyra is a finalist of the Joachim International Violin Competition in Hanover (1997) and International Stradivarius Competition in Cremona (1998). At the International Carl Nielsen Competition in Odense, Denmark (2000) he was awarded with a fourth prize and a special prize founded by Odense Symphony Orchestra. In 2001 he have won International Paganini Violin Competition in Genova (as a first Pole). At this competition he was also awarded with two special prizes for the best performance of Paganini´s compositions and with a copy of "Il Cannone" - violin that belonged to this remarkable virtuoso.

Mariusz Patyra performs in Italy (e.g. with Orchestra Fondazione Arturo Toscanini), Poland, Spain, Czech Republic, Russia, Austria, Germany, Japan (Royal Chamber Orchestra from Tokio). He have recorded for Radio France, Polish Radio and German Radio NDR.

The artist plays on the violin: a copy of Guarneri del Gesu 1733 made by Christian Erichson (Hannover 2003) and also a copy of "Il Cannone" 1742 made by John B. Erwin (Dallas 2000).
