Wolfgang Meyer

Wolfgang Meyer was born in Crailsheim.

He have learned from Otto Hermann in Stuttgart and Hans Deinzer in Hannover.

Since 1989 Wolfgang Meyer is a professor at the Academy of Music in Karlsruhe, form 2001 to 2007 he was also its rector.

As a soloist Wolfgang Meyer is famous for the interpretations of mainly contemporary composers such as Tiberiu Olah, Jean Francaix, Hubert Stuppner, Peter Eötvös, or Edison Denissow. He has recorded numerous CD’s of chamber music, including recordings on the historical instruments.

Since 1996 Wolfgang Meyer has been cooperating with Nicolaus Harnoncourt.

Musical cooperation binds him also with his sister Sabine, especially in Trio di Clarone and Carmina Quartett in Zurich, but also with Quatuor Mosaique.

Since 2004 he has worked with the Festival Orchestra in Lucerna under Claudio Abaddo.

As a soloist and a chamber musician Wolgang Meyer performs in the whole Word.
