Wojtek Gierlach has been awarded the following prizes at international vocal competitions:
the Ada Sari (1999 – 1st place); Bilbao (2000 - 2nd place), the main award in the Premio Caruso (Milan 2001); and the Francesco Viñas in Barcelona (2004 – 3rd place).
His recent engagements include Melisso Alcina with The English Concert under Harry Bicket alongside Joyce DiDonato at New York Carnegie Hall, Paris Théâtre des Champs Élysées and Theater an der Wien.
Recently he also apeared as Sir Giorgio I Puritani at Cardiff Welsh National Opera under Carlo Rizzi.
Past engagements include Don Basilio Il Barbiere di Siviglia with Deutsche Oper Berlin, Assur Semiramide at Royal Danish Opera, Oroveso Norma with Teatro National Sao Carlos Lisbon, Mustafa L'Italiana in Algeri at Minnesota Opera, Alidoro La Cenerentola with Festival d'Aix-en-Provence, Melisso Alcina with Opera National de Bordeaux, Orbazzano Tancredi with Teatro Maestranza in Seville, Leporello Don Giovanni with Nico Opera Cape Town and Conte Rodolfo La Sonnambula in St Gallen.
At Polish National Opera in Warsaw he also appeared as Colline La Boheme, Figaro Le Nozze di Figaro, Raimondo Lucia di Lammermoor, Duce Alfonso Lucrezia Borgia, Escamillo Carmen and Gessler Guillaume Tell.
A frequent concert performer sang title parts in Saul and Elias conducted by Helmuth Rilling at the Warsaw Philharmonic, Beethoven's Missa Solemnis at the Konzerthaus Berlin under Helmuth Rilling again, Bach's Magnificat under Mireia Barera at Auditorio Nacional de Madrid, Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 with Belfast Ulster Orchestra under David Stern, Rossini's Stabat Mater with Orquesta del Principado de Asturias with Alberto Zedda as conductor, Penderecki's Dies Irae with Simon Bolivar Orchestra in Caracas and Seven Gates of Jerusalem with National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice under the composer's baton.
Wojtek Gierlach recorded Mose in Egitto and La Donna del Lago by Rossini and Meyerbeer's Semiramide under Richard Bonynge for Naxos. For the Iberatour he has recorded Il dissoluto punito by Ramón Carnicer conducted by Alberto Zedda. His other recordings include G.S. Mayr's Medea in Corinto (Oehms), Luigi Mosca's L'Italiana in Algieri (Bongiovanni), Lodoïska by Cherubini and Euryanthe by Weber conducted by Łukasz Borowicz for POLSKIE RADIO label and recently Guillaume Tell under Michele Mariotti for Deutche Grammophone.
His future engagements include Talbot Maria Stuarda at Polish National Opera, Alidoro Cenerentola at Danish National Opera and Priest Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk at Royal Opera House - Covent Garden.
